Today I decided to go up to watson lake to see if I could get lucky and find the famous pygmy owl. No luck but I did happen to find a hairy woodpecker making a loud racket in a tree next to me. While walking back to the car, I looked up at the canyon and saw a hawk. I put my binoculars in view of it and saw that it was a Swainson's hawk, the first one of the year for me.
